For Adults - Common Concerns

Finding Clarity for Common Concerns

Common Concern: I am struggling with feelings of depression and/or anxiety.  I did some research on what it could be but did not find clear answers.  Therapy seems to be helping but there are just some questions that I would like clarity on.  At this point, I am unsure of what to do next.  Where can I go from here?

Adult’s Initial Response: Adults may consult with their primary care physician and other healthcare providers.  When consulting with healthcare professionals, adults may find that brief appointments focus more on screening for immediate issues rather than addressing deeper concerns or providing long-term answers.

Tandem’s Response: Symptoms of emotional distress are often related to both internal factors (like stress, past trauma, or self-esteem) and external factors (such as work pressures, relationship issues, or life changes).  As adults, we strive to overcome these obstacles through the use of learned coping strategies, professional help, and other means.  Over time, we learn which coping strategies work best for different situations, but sometimes these strategies aren’t enough to relieve ongoing symptoms.  It’s completely normal to feel unsure about what to do next when dealing with persistent emotional difficulties.  We understand how challenging this can be, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.  We’re here to help you gain clarity and find the support you need.

Adult’s Next Steps: The first step in understanding your emotional experiences is scheduling a comprehensive psychological evaluation with Tandem.  This evaluation will give you a clearer understanding of what may be underlying your emotional distress and provide you with concrete strategies to manage and move forward.  To get started, simply call Tandem or complete the Evaluation Interest Form here.
