For Caregivers - Common Concern 3
Finding Clarity for Common Concerns
Common Concern 3: I have a child who seems to be nervous and anxious throughout the day. I have tried teaching him/her how to respond to this anxiety but nothing seems to help. I am also having trouble figuring out what about his/her environment is causing the anxiety. How do I help my child? Where can I go from here?
Caregiver’s Initial Response: Caregivers may consult with pediatricians and other healthcare providers about their child’s social-emotional functioning. When discussing their child’s anxiety, caregivers may experience brief appointments with pediatricians or healthcare providers, which may not allow for a deep exploration of the concerns.
Tandem’s Response 3: Anxiety can make it hard for children to feel comfortable in new or unfamiliar situations, and it may affect how they interact with others and their sense of safety. Anxiety can show up in different ways, such as excessive worrying about school or social situations, difficulty sleeping, or avoiding certain activities due to fear. These internal and external factors can be overwhelming for children and their families. We know that managing a child’s anxiety can be challenging, but we’re here to help you find a path forward with personalized support and care.
Caregiver’s Next Steps: The first step in understanding your child’s anxiety is scheduling a comprehensive psychological evaluation with Tandem. This evaluation will give you a thorough understanding of your child’s emotional needs, along with actionable steps you can take to help. To get started, you can call Tandem or complete the Evaluation Interest Form here.
